Same problem here. Its been going on for a while now. It is very distracting during a game. Don't know why they haven't fixed it. I wish the admins would at least address the problem but it doesn't look like they've even acknowledged it yet.

@Reldnahc- Are you only having the issue with Chrome? Are you using Windows? What version of Chrome do you currently have installed? Thanks for the info!
I only use Chrome
Windows 8 but happened before on old computer with 7
Chrome Version 28.0.1500.72 m
Still chrome. Still windows 7. Still happening.

Same problem on Safari 6.0.5 on Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.
The thing is, this problem only occurs sporadically. As I also rely on the sound effects when playing live chess and browsing the web simultaneously, this can be quite frustrating.
Have encountered a problem a few times within the last few weeks where suddenly sound will not play in live chess. Hardly game-breaking and top priority, but thought I'd mention it all the same. I'm talking sound effects here - the sound when a piece moves, or the squeak when someone offers a rematch. Can be a bit of a pain when you flip to another tab whilst waiting for your opponent to move and are relying on an audio cue to let you know that it's your move again.
