Sound

Hi,

Can anyone confirm that the sound does indeed work in Live Chess on Firefox? I can't hear anything on Live Chess.

Adam did you try go into live chess settings:

http://www.chess.com/home/livechess_settings.html

and make sure, "Enable sounds" is checked

Yes. "Enable sounds" is checked.

The Firefox extension Flashblock was the culprit. I added chess.com to its whitelist and now the sound is working in Live Chess and Tactics Trainer. Though it's strange that i didn't get this problem on Play Against The Computer.

Im glad you were able to find the solution :)

Live chess and tactics trainer uses flash, thats why flashblock would have blocked it.

Paly against the computer on the other hand uses java not flash, thats why the sound continued to work there.

I actually found the solution by accident. I disabled Flashblock to test something else, but forgot to re-enable it, and when I went into Tactics Trainer or Live Chess, I noticed the sound was working. I re-enabled Flashblock and the sound was gone.

And not the whole of Live Chess and Tactics Trainer uses Flash, otherwise Flashblock would have blocked all of it?

Live chess and Tactics trainer are a mix of Flash and Javascript,

The javascript part would have functioned :)
