oh, fixed it, finally. Clicking on the 'room' column in the room tab to order the empty list causes the list to appear.

I appear to be stuck in the open discussion room in livechess. Whenever I log in, I go straight there, even after clearing my cache and deleting chess.com cookies and logging in to the main site again. This means I can't get a game, and there's no-one to ask about the problem!
