Time and Players not displaying correctly in live chess

Sort:
chrka

The player names and clock is are displayed to far to the sides and in too small a font. It seems to have begun today. This is on Safari 7.0.2 on Mac OS X 10.9.2.

Do try to change Your Live Settings.     Undecided

Well, it works when I split the window in such a way that the board only takes up as much space as needed:

But if I make it any bigger (ie., decrease the space for the move list, games &c) the clock and player displays shrink:

(I just upgraded to Safari 7.0.3 and the problem persists.)

I have the same issue. Did you find a solution?

DeepGreene

I'm trying to reproduce the issue with Safari 7.0.3 and OSX 10.9.2, and so far, I'm not seeing it. The font for players & clocks scales appropriately to the size of the board (and stays directly over/under the board), for instance if I drag the move-list area bigger or smaller.

Anything else I should try? Specific settings, for instance? You see this issue as soon as you sign in?

chrka

No special settings, it happens as soon as I make more room for the board than is needed for the maximum sized board (by the way, I would really appreciate larger board sizes — the current maximum size is too small for modern displays).

chrka

I could record a video of what happens if that helps.

DeepGreene

Try this for me: The next time you see the problem, hit ⌘-0 (zero) and then refresh the page.

chrka

Tried it. No change. =(

DeepGreene

Oh that's so weird. I was able to duplicate your exact issue by changing the page zoom (zooming out a couple of times). But then going back to default zoom (100%) and refreshing fixed it instantly.

So... back to the drawing board. Anything non-standard at the system preferences level - like Display > Resolution: Scaled (instead of the default Best for display) or Accessibility (Display or Zoom tabs)?

Any interesting browser extensions in play?

chrka

Nope. Best for display. Don't think I have made any accesibility changes, zooming with rolling-gestures (or whatever it's in English, you ctrl-scroll to zoom in and out) is enabled, smoothing of images for that is also enabled. System language is Swedish (and numeric formats).

My computer is a 2011 27" iMac (ie. no retina display or anything like that). No browser extensions installed. Xcode and all the usual developer stuff is installed on it. Developer menu in Safari is enabled.

chrka

For what it's worth, I downloaded Chrome and tried Live in that as well. Same issue! So it might not be a Safari-problem.

DeepGreene

I tried this out at a friend's house last night (they have a 27" iMac). What I found was that the issue was fairly easy to reproduce on that hardware, but only if I was using the browser in full-screen mode. Same for you guys?

chrka

It's enough that the window be large enough that I can resize the board above its maximum size.

DeepGreene meant that the problem occured when he had the web browser on full-screen, not how big you want to make your board :P

chrka

Yes, and it is enough that the window is large enough. It doesn't have to be in fullscreen mode:

But it has to be large enough that the maximum board will fit in the window (and then some)!

chrka

Looks as if it has been fixed. Yay!

Truth! :)
