Time in live chess

Hi all, help me pls! I dont understand 1 thing - When i play a game 1/0 my opponents time is increasing when the clock is less than 20 sec with every next move. For exemple 

my clock          opponents clock

10.9                  10.9

10.1                  11.5

09.4                  11.8

And i allways lose on time!!! Pls help me why its heppens

Unfortunately this is because of lag. Its more noticeable in bullet chess just because its a larger part of the over all time.
