Time loss when game disconnects

I've recently been having a lot of problems with the connectivity to the server when playing the app. I'm mid game and I get the message "Reconnecting" or "Loading Game". During this time the game is frozen and Im unable to move. Then when the app finally decides to reconnect (usually after a minute or more) the game resumes and my timer has lost the time that it was frozen. Very annoying. It's then impossible to come back into the game after having 1 or 2 minutes wiped off your time vs the opponent on the same time as before the disconnect.

What do you expect? That your clock stops while you are not connected?

OK - so I can give specific details of a game I just played where this happened - hopefully the app developers have access to more info than I do.

This game http://www.chess.com/livechess/game?id=518168555

I'm playing at home and am connected via Wifi from my router 6ft away, so should have no connectivity problems. I play the 4th move (Bishop from c1 to g6) at around 04:50 into the game. I'm waiting for the opponent to move when I start getting the usual "Reconnecting", "Loading game" errors. It's the opponents move - it displays my bishop in the new position and I'm unable to move or do anything but wait, but my clock keeps randomly ticking down. I watch for almost a full 3 minutes before it reconnects, when suddenly my Bishop is displayed in its original c1 position and I am down to just 2:00 remaining vs my opponent with 4:50. What choice do I then have other than to quit?

This is quite a typical example, and it's most frustrating because I don't how I could possibly get better connectivity on my phone than connecting to my landline broadband with 4 Mb/s speed.

This is happening with such frequency I can post a second example.

Similar thing in this game:

This time with a regular phone signal connection. I make my 3rd move - pawn to e7. After I move the game flashes the "Reconnecting" message for less than a second.

I sit waiting for the opponent for a full minute watching their clock ticking down. After that my time suddenly drops a minute and the opponents clock resets to their initial time of around 4:50. Again I watch as it ticks down. My piece has been played - it's there in position, Im unable to move anything else and my opponents clock is ticking down - I don't know how their could be any doubt I have played my move. There are no more connection messages being show. Then after almost another full minute the game is ended saying I lose because I abandoned the game.

This is happening in 60-80% of the games I play at the moment. The app was always flakey, but never this bad - it has been in the last few weeks it's really become practically unusable.

Yes! I lose ALL the time while I am perfectly connected to the internet but my iphone chess app spits out "Loading game..." And "reconnecting..." Over and over while my time magically disappears. So frustrating! wth

This happens to me too, but I play on the internet.

Whenever a connectivity problem occurs, the game should be stopped.

SprintingBlastoff

I have the same problem on my iphone. Frustrating. I have full internett connection.

Version 3.9.16 (2) is out to fix the recent bugs.

AviPere_V

Same thing happens to me. Also like 60-70% of the time. Please fix this

Hello
viharp
Even after 7 years this is still a problem
redish2098

only problem with stopping the game is if your low on time you can disconnect on purpose and study your position then reconnect

Lag.com strikes again. Bullet is unplayable. Bilichess works fine meanwhile.
