Time

I play a lot of live chess - 10 minute mostly. Can computer performance or player location influence speed time reduces. This is not sour grapes as I have won more than lost but my time does appear to reduce disproportionately to my opponent even when I play speedily !

Anyone else experience this ?

If you are too close to a black hole, the gravity will affect the time-space continuum.

Thanks Dr Spock - I was worried it may have been due to travelling at warp factor 4 or interference from the Clingon's

You mean Bill Clingon, the Man of Sax and Violence? I thought he's finished with interfering.

Seriously, the signal is carried thorugh the wires at a speed that's not infinite. So the longer the wire the longer it takes for the signal to get through. This would ammount to few milliseconds per move. I doubt that you could notice it.

Thanks for taking the time to respond with a more realistic/scientific explanation.  I know my initial comment sounds irrational - possibly I'm experiencing blackouts between moves !

At the risk of attracting further ridicule - do you think broadband speed can have an effect ?
