Tournament bye even though I was online all the time.

Just playing first tournament on chess.com.

I've lost a first game, went to settings to adjust some board/pieces/sound things and then got a message I got a bye because the system detected I was offline. I was online all the time though.

Is it a bug or do you need to have tournament focused all the time or otherwise "system detects you are offline"? Now I am afraid to even open my game history cause that may mean another bye.

Did I run into some bug or is the intention that I can't do anything on chess.com between tournament games?

This just happened to me too.

1st: My opponent didn't show up for the game in round 2 and the point got split, instead of assigning me the win

2nd: When round 3 started I was issues a bye telling me that I was "detected offline" even though I was most definitely online following the other games of round 2

I'll wait to see if I get to play in round 4 or if I am still "detected offline"

Same happened here, in TWO tournaments. This is ridiculous.

Just happened to me as well. I am using Firefox on Ubuntu if that helps.

Does this happen to new players? Do I have to play a certain number of games or something?

@fyre76 this is unrelated to your seniority at the site. I had already been on the site (and played many tournaments) when I experienced the issue. On the plus side ... this only happened to me once and has never repeated even though I've played 3-4 tourneys a week since then.

My guess is that this is just a fluke that happens very rarely.

Thanks.

I was able to play other games in the tournament, but those ten minutes felt like forever. Thanks for the response.
