Has anyone else experienced this where you set a game up (I was doing custom 15|10 unrated) and it gives you what your ELO will be win, lose, and draw? I didn't give it much attention until I lost and then saw my ELO went down which is where I am confused. If I set up for unrated why are points being won or lost? Shouldn't my ELO stay the same?

I just clicked on "Play" to try and set up a new game and it said that the game was aborted and that's when I saw I could click a link to create a quick "15|10 rated" game. I tried creating a new game through Custom Challenge, clicked off Rated AND made sure to put custom time of 15|10, and when the game started it was back to being rated.
Your rating didn't go down. You were unrated. It was your first rated rapid game.
I see no reason why people play unrated. Ratings just help you get a competitive match. If anyone plays an unrated, they have no idea whether or not they will get crushed or crush their opponent. Plus when you play that slow of a time control, there is often the thrill of having to wait patiently while some new member or someone with a bad connection lets the clock run out.
Most of the people who play unrated do it because they want to protect some rating they have reached, as if the rating were something that had value in itself.
