Can somebody tell me under which circumstances violation of fair plat policy happens?
I was recently playing a game which was abanadoned because the opponent got disconnected. In the chat window, I receieved a message about the opponent viloating fair play policies and the message said "...may have violated our Fair Play policy - it has been noted and they may have their account restricted."

I resigned and was then told I violated the fair play policy!  Doesn't seem right....

I noticed some players get 'disconnected' immediately after losing their Queen...

There is a "resign" button. Resigning huffily by disconnecting will lead to troubles.

You're not allowed to disconnect during a game at all.

You are not supposed to name names or post those requests here.

It looks like your opponent just quit without resigning. That is annoying in a ten minute game but not criminal. The Fair Play policy will punish him eventually, if he does it often enough.

If there is a real problem, with suspected cheating or something like that, submit them directly to support.

The Admins detected that one or more of my opponents in an earlier game(s) might have violated the FairPlay Policy. my rating was adjusted in compensation for the loss of points I probably suffered because of this cheater. His name was not given so I have no clue who it was. but I would not like to play such a person again, so is there any way I can "blacklist" such a person?

Go to your archive and look at some recent past games. You will see a circle/X by players who have violated the Fair Play policy.

When you that message, it also means that the other person's account has been closed, so you don't need to worry about blocking them.

I wonder if the internet is aware of this policy.

Violations of Chess.com's fair play policy doesn't have anything to do with quitting games or disconnecting during a game, but with being caught using a database.

"

  • We work hard to keep Chess.com a safe and positive community for chess players around the world, and are sad whenever any account is closed. That said, the process of investigating the fair play of our members is a never ending one!
  • Chess.com employs more than 10 full time salary employees dedicated to the research, prevention, and ultimately, the closure of accounts found to have accessed illegal assistance during their chess games. Our team is constantly going through the games of our top players, submitting those games into our "Fair Play Detection System", and evaluating clean play vs non-clean play.
  • We close over 1000 accounts each week (including those of premium members, and even Titled members).

Im from indonesia, and internet is pretty bad, and so i dont think losing by disconnecting is a violation. Since internet speed varies from country to country and province to province and so on..
