waiting for reconnection

This is the game I played in live chess. Event that follows:

1. Opponent run out of time

2. Computer indicated "waiting to reconnect".

That was half an hour ago. Since it appears opponent not coming back.. How does one get out w/o resigning or forefeiting the game?

Hi from Vancouver,Canada :)

I have been disconnected by chess.com's server many times in the past, unable to login for up to 15 minutes.

As far as I know;the game is cancelled by the server with no winner or loser.

I know this is unfair, but we are at the mercy of the server.

When this happened in the past it worked for and against me,at different times.

Sorry,I can't offer you any better info.

It's okay. It's just a game. FYI, I finally moved out of live chess, and the system charged me a loss. Par for the course. Lol

I have noticed on several occasions, that disconnection happens when an opponent is in a losing position... then we are reconnected and my clock has run down.  Is there a way to disconnect, then reconnect to run down the opponent's clock?   If so, I think it is unethical.  Or is it just happening randomly?

Happend to me right now! Was playing a game, when I suddenly was told that I had lost connection. The message said that the server was down. Logged  in again, but I had lost the game. Had actually more than 30 min left, so it was not a time loss. Feels pretty unfair when the problem actually is on the servere and not me losing connection. Is it possible to cancel a such loss and restore the rating?

i could not find a way to do it. in fact, opponents time had run out for more than 30 minutes while I have roughly more than 4 minutes left. I gave up and moved on to online chess, and apparently lost the game. Why? I am sure.

Once you are disconnected, the server gives you about 2 or 3 minutes to reconnect. Otherwise, the server will declare your opponent the winner due to abandonement.

Monty.. I am not sure if its random. But I noticed it several times. There is even a few times where the opponents clock reached zero then resets a minute or so, then when zero is reached, it resets again. Amazingly when my clock reached zero because of that, it did not reset. Don't know what to think.
