Personally, I don't refuse rematches in rated games... I just ignore them... Is that better or worse than declining them?
What does mean, when a player refuse to rematch ?

refusing rematch is not an insult or disrespect ...
and this do not even require an explanation.
no one owes nothing

"no one owes nothing"
While it's true that online chess is just like casual "sex", it is still kind of creepy that people stop interacting with each other after the final move... Even prostitutes smile at their customers...

I started again to give rematches, and soon I was reminded why I didn´t like it before:
Situation 1:
I win - I was asked for a rematch
I win - I was asked for a rematch again
I win - I was asked for a rematch again
I lost - 0.002 seconds later: "your oponnent has left the room"
Situation 2:
I win - I was asked for a rematch
I lost - I was asked for a rematch (I was thinking that he wanted a real long match)
I win - I was asked for a rematch
I win - I was asked for a rematch
I´m a totally winning position - "your oponnent has disconnected" (just when he saw that he is not going to level the match so easily).

your right, you have showing exactly what i mean. unfortunatly the atings are NOT real

by the way FAIR PLAY DOES NOT EXISTS IN REAL WORLD.
1% of gamers accept rematch.
Just because Rated points are become a kind of money.
More u have, more smart u are. so why rematch if u can loose.
I suggest to create a new category REAL RATED POINTS GAME with the same rules like a tournament.
One game , rematch ,( in case equality final match). at this step the winer will get rated point.
If one gamer refuse to rematch -100. and a special symbol to show that this gamer had no fair play.
I repeat create a new category without remove actually categories (rated and unrated): LET REAL FAIR PLAY GAMERS PLAY TOGETHER.
I don't understand. Why refusing a rematch = non fair play ?
I can have some very good reasons for refusing a second game (I explained some of them in another comment).
First, if you don't even say hello before or after the game, forget the rematch. I look for polite players.
in the most of my games i will try to say hello but befor that my opponent usually leave the chat in 0.01 sec. lol

If I lose to someone, I get into a rage (sometimes ;) ) and won't want to rematch them because I'm annoyed. If I beat them, I'll only rematch them if it was because of some big blunder they made or if it was a really pleasant / enjoyable experience. Otherwise, no thanks, and I don't consider that rude.

i rematch if i like the player or if there a challeng to beat. i ddont rematch if mybrating is in danger
Yesterday or the day before I was playing a game, and I had to leave in a hurry, and I was like, Oh man, I'm going to be late for something very important, I hope I can finish this game!
I finally wrapped it up, managed to win the game. And the guy immediately challenged me to a rematch. I clicked out of there, jumped in the car, and went to my appointment.
What does it mean? Nothing at all.
If someone wants to pat themselves on the back and call that "apologetics," go ahead. If you believe the "real" reason I didn't accept the challenge was that I was scared, feel free.
The whole discussion is kind of silly. Any "expert" rated chess player should beat me 9 times out of 10.
So what does it prove, one way or another, if someone at my crappy level beats me? They won. Big whoop. We're both still crappy chess players.
I could see someone who is really excellent at chess really caring one way or another. But I'm not good at chess. If I lose, or win, it means almost nothing. It's a pastime for me.
