I like to play only one game at a time and then analyze it to understand what took place. As a result, I don't play re-matches. Doesn't seem too hard to understand.
What does mean, when a player refuse to rematch ?
Most of the time, i have already clicked "new game" (watever jogar is spelled in the english interface) when the small popup appears asking for rematch ("revanche"), so there is no chance do click "aceitar" (accept).

- Why do some players want to rematch?
- There is a saying in Turkish: "When you are beaten you are not done." (I hope it is not a bad translation)

if you are worried about rematch or no rematch, the answer is simple. DONT PLAY THE FIRST GAME .

I am a 800 average points player, been ups and down, not long ago I beat a 1400 player and another over 1000 points. The 1400 player did the most silly moves, I don't think the game lasted more than 3 minutes, what happened to this player, I don't really know. What happens I think with lesser points players is, if they beat you, for one or another reason, may be you are having a bad day, when you asked them for a rematch they refuse because they may easily lose to you and they don't want to risk losing those extra points, in other word they chicken out !

There is absolutely no reason to rematch a 800.

That doesn't make much sense...

It doesn't make much sense to a person with a scientific mind. It makes a lot of sense to a person with a logical mind. The logical mind can see that if you are concerned about whether a person is going to want a rematch, then you must not play chess with them at all. Because the rematch is totally insignificant.

But then you wouldn't play chess at all.

That's the whole point. A chess player should be interested in playing the game, rather than concentrating on what some other player might do. A logical person would not be concerned about whether the opponent will rematch, that has nothing to do with playing the game against them.

Many players like me want to rest between games. Those refused a rematch, don't take it personally. Resting is not running . Do we need to ask permission to rest 😎

Unlike Dingtoo I am not prescient, so my logical mind would have no indication if a person I have just met would want a rematch before we even played a first game. I suspect that is why chadnilson suggested the original comment made no sense. Logic needs facts to deduce conclusions, or at least suppositions, and there would be no facts with which to deduce an unknown opponent would request a rematch.
And I agree with Imsighked2 (fellow Geezer), this post languished for 4 years (2013 to 2017) before being revived . Lets go out and see how many other posts we can resurrect that were originally started by ex-account holders. How does that even happen?

The logic at the start is simple. If the rematch is more important than the game, then you are playing the wrong game. Time to move on to something closer to kindergarten level.

I think we're looking at this from different perspectives. You seem to be indicating that the player starts a game knowing they will ask for a rematch. I'm looking at it from the perspective of a player who has lost and wants a chance at redemption. Presumably at the start of a game, unless the players are woefully mismatched, no one can be sure of its outcome; therefore, only until things look bleak would someone start considering asking for a rematch. I'm guessing it is more customary for the loser to ask for a rematch; I could be wrong. If you believe you'll win, you wouldn't be considering a rematch.
If a player is impolite (for example if he doesn't even say hello, it is not so difficult), it is normal I refuse a rematch. The same if he disables chat, of course. I am not here for the conversation, but a minimum politeness is good.
