Why does ELO do this? -19 for draw with player at +300 rating?

I have to beat higher rated more times than lose to gain rating?  Shouldn't lower player get more points for beating better opponent?  Please revisit this system...

Also I was using black which is the worst color in chess, shouldn't I get + for draw?

formose

Why am I losing 127 points now?  I have to get rating at +8 per win and now I lose 127 on a loss?  How can anyone go up?

formose

I'm moving to lichess this is absolutely ridiculous I got +150 rating it took 2 or 3 weeks and now I lose it in one game unbelievable.

It's because it was your first game at that speed. The changes are dramatic early on because they are positioning your rating for the first time. Your ratings are separate for Bullet, Blitz, Rapid, and Daily.

I have played 1,040 games and all but maybe 15 of them have been 10/0 so no there should be little to no uncertainty remaining in the system.

@breisdor is correct. You’ve only played four rapid games so your rapid rating deviation (RD) is very high.

Your past 10|0 games are classified as blitz, not rapid.

Maybe the rapid RD should have been set to the blitz RD as part of the recent 10|0 classification change.

It's not really Elo, it's Glicko.

Why are my old 10/0 games as blitz?  I didn't switch the type, it's always 10/0.

It is strange you get penalized for a draw though, I don't understand that.

Usually the higher rated player will lose rating points when drawing a lower rated player. They are expected to win the game.

It looks odd in this case because the draw differential is so large due to the RDs involved.
