Why is outgoing rating range reset all the time?

I always set my rating range to -50 and +150 in the settings for Live Chess. But after a few weeks the settings are back to default again.  

Why is this?

What clients have you been playing on? i.e. Web, iOS, or Android

Web, google chrome. Other settings don't change.

Same problem for me and for all the users I spoke to...

I'm not sure I understand how this ensures fairness and accuracy (I would assume most people would just waste some time changing the rating range back to their preferences), but thanks for the answer.

I also don´t know how this has influence on fairness and accuracy. Rating doesn´t go up with it. It is just more stable, because against higher rated players you lose less rating points than against lower rated players. And wins vs higher rated players will give you more rating. But you also lose more of your games than you win, because you are playing more against stronger opponents.
