stop ballmorphy you wont get anywhere. he might be a cheater but that doesnt mean you STALK him forever saying he's a cheater. If you really think so just report him

I really don't think that cheating is that rampant as this thread makes it out to be. cheating doesn't exists in bullet, and not in blitz unless you play something ridiculously slow like 10 5, which is more like a standard game. Even in standard games, I almost never suspect my opponent of cheating. If cheating occurs, it would be in the correspondence chess. That's my opinion anyways. Perhaps I'm just blind, but I do not think so.

WHy does your rating on chess.com matter to you? Even if people are all cheating, as long as you are getting good games and learning/improving, then you should be happy. BTW, i think that cheating is less prevalent than you think.

Bullet chess is not a good test of chess skill. Most games are won on time with both players making many mistakes. Basically, the winner is the person who can click faster without making a huge and obvious blunder. It's reaction time over deep strategic thonking.

Yeah, my ratings are similar, as are those of many other people. I mostly play turn-based chess because that's what I have time for. It gives me the possibility to think about specific moves for days, and I usually don't just make the first move that comes to mind. But I see many turn-based opponents try to move as fast as possible. That's why there's a huge gap.

Those ratingnumbers Alexm has is normal. I have ca the same relation between online and blitz, but at a lower level.

I and Alexm  need time to think , to play well.

Very few 1900 onliners are able to play above 1700 blitz, and they who can do it have probably good clubplayingexperience.

If a master is down on 2000 in online, he isnt playing to boost the rating. He is testing, or spending little time on each move.

2000 online is a natural level for 1600-1800 Fiderated.

A master should be above 2200.

"Most of the chess players" is a bit of a overstatment. Yes there are some cheaters here and there but what can you do.

For my own experience you can improve over 1400 without cheating, and when you face someone who "cheats" is shame on his/her and nothing more. Just pick another opponent and play other game.

I think is more common here to blame someone for cheating than the people that actually cheats. From time to time when I win a blitz game in a complicated position the opponent acuse me of cheating, of using engine assistance and even call you very harsh names. Thats only shows how little self respect they have.

If you want to progress I advise you to play more online games, thats helps to improve your thinking process. Blitz is fun and help you with tactics and so but... is not "real" chess

To deal with cheaters is not easy but you can simply disregard them. just feel it as you are playing against an engine. you at least learn a lot of things that will improve your chess. nothing to worry when you find you are not going above 1400, because it's easy to reach but tough to improve after that level. any cricket bowler can achieve the pace of 80-90 mph but to reach 95 may seem marginal but it requires lot of effort and training... ( if you are familiar with cricket terms. just put as an example ! ) all the best . 

If you meet a lowrated player that plays like a Gm,

There are GM´s on chess.com that comes in anonymously and starts at low rating.

Dont take him for a computer. Just enjoy the game and the experience.

Don't worry...all cheaters are fully aware that they are not actually playing the game...they are but robots for their silicon master. I am sure that most of them feel guilty at some level...

I am talking about online ratings, 3 days pr move. There is no way 2000 is close to a masters strenght, not even CM. A friend of me has 2200, and he is ca 1850 fide, another at ca 1600 fide has 1950 online. I am 1660 online and predicted 1420 Fide. 

The 960 scale is different, I see that people typically has a couple houndred less 960 points than onlinepoints, so that 1900 960 is close to a masters strenght might be true. 

Of course, it has nothing to do with the fact that bullet is... err, let's say a different variant from chess.

dont make such type of comment which hurts most to the chess lovers only. Win or loss is not a matter but the game of your standard and your good behaviours counts my friend .ok bye .

If a blitzplayer at 1200,1300,1400 believes he or she meets cheaters I think the best is to hire a GM for analyzing the games. That process will revael a huge number of missed opportunities on both sides, you will both broaden your chessvision and for all time forget about cheating. I really dont think it happens at that level in blitz.

Or, if you want to save money, just use a chess engine.

common! chess online has such cheatings! dont be hypocrite to saying there's no cheating techniques. tell it to the marines! hypocrites.
