I will miss LiveChess1 like a cowering infantryman misses a sucking chest wound.
Will You Miss Live Chess 1?

Criminy, Zank, you're just over a year older than me and you sound like an old fogey!
Without change, how'd ya operate the vending machines? Change is good (you go first).
Live Chess 1.0 was literally one of the worst chess servers I have ever played on. I hated it and definitely won't miss it. It wasn't just the disconnects, which certainly were bad, it was the horrible lag in every game played. I think this site is tops in turn-based chess, but the Live chess has lagged (bad pun) so far behind many better sites out there. I guess a lot of the players didn't notice how bad the lag was here because they hadn't played on the other sites, I'm not sure. When you make moves on other sites it feels like real-time. In Live Chess 1.0, if you played a 5 minute game, the game might take 15-20 minutes.
Anyway, I can't wait for Live 2.0, it seems like it'll be pretty good. :-) I'm hoping I can finally play ALL of my chess at this site now.
Today is the last day for Live Chess 1, by Saturday night Live Chess 2 will be
here to stay. So my question is, will you soon wax nostalgic for Live Chess 1?
I know it wasn't perfect, I lost countless games to disconnects, for some reason
far more than I won, but we humans tend to look fondly on the past. I still haven't
accepted my father selling our old Pontiac Lemans with the cool racing stripe (and
now Pontiac and Saturn and Oldsmobile are gone forever) and I don't care for
change, I tend to live in the past. One strange glitch with live chess 1, no matter how fast I moved in a 1-minute game I could not win, my clock always
ran out first.
Of course live chess 2 will be great, but give me six months or so to accept
it, after all, I'm just getting used to the Brewers playing in the National League
and phones you don't have to dial.
