y do people downvote for small things like calling a puzzle easy?

Because, if for example you're referring to the daily puzzle comment section, you'd notice it's always the low rated people, mostly ppl in the 100-500 range, spamming 'ez' in the comments throughout the entire week regardless of how easy or hard the puzzle is even though it's remarkably obvious they needed hints to solve it, given their live/puzzle ratings. (And no I'm not trying to elo shame anyone, I myself have a low rating but I dont spam 'easy' or 'ez' in the comments).
And seeing a string of 'ez' comments would discourage those who actually care about solving the puzzle and may have found it harder. And if you'd notice, rarely any high rated player shows off in the comments, they just solve the puzzle and get done with it, so yeah that's why those comments receive so many (well deserved) downvotes because those comments are entirely attention-seeking. And the comment section is supposed to be for discussing the puzzle, or asking your doubts regarding it, not spamming low-value trash there. Also it's ironic that you say people should just 'get over it' but felt the need to post this just because you saw some downvotes, seems it does bother you a lot after all.

These puzzles were daily puzzles at one point, and you can actually find some of them by going to past daily puzzles and clicking on all the Sunday ones.

looking at people of any rating range saying “EZ” to some people might make them feel bad because they can’t solve this “ez” puzzle, but it’s odd that some super gm’s can’t solve these daily puzzles but 400 Elo players can (I say this not to Elo shame, but it’s the most common rating doing this in the comments)
