2020 West Orange Chess Club Championship

Once granted, bye requests are reversible only by discretion of the Tournament Committee based on particular circumstances.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak the 2020 West Orange Chess Club Championship has been suspended. Also the club is temporarily closed.
When it is safe to do so the club will reopen and the club championship will resume.
For any further questions please contact Chief Tournament Director and Club President John Hagerty via email at buickchess@gmail.com or call him at 973-736-3433 between the hours of 10:00 AM and 9:00 PM and leave him a message if necessary.

Long time West Orange Chess Club member Charlie Hart recently passed away and this tournament will be dedicated in his honor.
I am the president of the WOCC and I knew Charlie Hart from years ago when he was a regular at the old Montclair, NJ CC. Such a good guy. He even helped now and then run tournaments as an assistant TD. He will be sorely missed.
Its great that we can play chess on line . . .
I bowl in a league and they closed the lanes until April 1st . . .
Oh no . That's April fools day! . . . Bobby Fischer used to bowl . . .
I`m into freshwater fishing (my other passion!) and I`m afraid that we might be barred from going into parks that have lakes and ponds.

Update from West Orange Chess Club Championship Chief TD John Hagerty:
As regards the interrupted WOCCC, we will resume the continuation of the Championship ASAP. Those who wish to drop out and get a refund of their $25.00 entry fee, please contact me by email at buickchess@gmail.com with your address. In any event, all games played will be rated when the eventual rating report is sent in to the USCF offices. I hope that we can get back to the Katz Center in two or three months and I strongly suggest that our website (westorangechess.webs.com) be checked out at least every two weeks (ideally on Wednesdays onward throughout the week). Once I get the "green light" to use our meeting place again, I will have a two week lead time to reset the continuation of the WOCCC.
