What to expect in a small unrated USCF Swiss Tournament? It says it is G/30. Where does it say how many rounds there are? What do you say, do, what is the normal schedule for the day?
its 30 minutes, no increment (for the time control)
should be chill since unrated, and it'll be swiss pairings
that's all (i think) we'll know unless you tell more
Search the tournament on the USFC official webpage. Click on the tournament. There needs to be something like this: 7SS. 7SS means that there are 7 rounds in swiss system. G/30 it means that you have 30 minutes for the whole game without any increment. About the schedule, I don't know. But if you search it about you will see, the dates when will the tournament start, and when will end. I hope I helped you!
Just remember, and this is very important, whenever u put ur opponent in check u have to say "check!" loudly so the whole room can hear it. It's customary.
It doesn't say anything in the listing. You should email the director and point out that it would be nice to know when the tournament starts and how many rounds there will be.

"What to expect in a small unrated USCF Swiss Tournament?"
++ Small probably means 5 rounds up to 32 players.
"It says it is G/30"
++ 30 minutes per player for the whole game, that is rounds of maximum 1 hour
"what is the normal schedule for the day?"
It is probably arrival and registration, then 1 hour for round 1, then 1 hour for round 2,
then a lunch break, then 1 hour for round 3, then 1 hour for round 4, then 1 hour for round 5, then the closing ceremony.

For small USCF tournaments, the closing ceremony is likely to be the Tournament Director telling everybody to get out so he can clean the place up and go home. ;-)
Do I have to bring lunch or is it provided?
You're usually left to fend for yourself. If there's time, some people go out to a nearby fast food place. However, sometimes you end up not having much time for the lunch break. Some people bring their own lunch (if it's allowed) and just scarf it down between rounds. It would be best to ask the tournament director so that you're sure of what to expect for the lunch period.

you will probably bring lunch or buy it from somewhere nearby
in scholastic tournaments they (the tournament organizers or a certain team) often sell pizza, but they usually don't do that in tournaments with adults
