I think we will all find that this "problem" goes away after the election.

I used to work with a guy that every year got a flu shot, and every year he kept telling me i need to get one. He got the flu shot and got the flu. I have never gotten a flu shot and have never gotten the flu.
Our family never got the flu shot, but after my little brother and sister were born my Mom had everyone take it because she was scared we’d catch the flu and give it to them. Before that we never had the flu, but that year we caught a nasty one. After that we never took another flu shot and haven’t caught the flu since.
Human physiology. Some are more susceptible to things than others. I was always one of those people that never got sick. I'm not saying don't take things seriously. Im just saying some are more susceptible than others to things contagious.
I agree. I’m the same in the sense that I rarely get sick, but I know others who get sick often. Everyone is different
I know a guy in his mid 30's, goes to the gym, takes jujitsu. Gets covid and he thought he was going to die. A friends 14 year old son got covid, and didnt even know he had it.
Our friends perfectly healthy 8 year old caught covid and was hospitalized and ended up with asthma afterwards (which he didn’t have before). The our other friends Mom caught covid (she is in her mid 40’s) and the only reason she knew she had it was because she couldn’t smell. It seems to be a case by case scenario.
My mom passed away this past April, and they hammered me on "Did she have covid???"
I lost track of how many times they asked me that. I kept telling them NO she did not have covid. "Well how do you know???"
I said because she was almost 81, in poor health, bad heart, diabetic, bad kidneys. But they would not let the covid thing go. She was found in the hallway in her wheel chair with blood drippingfrom her nose and ear. She had a stroke. Youre not convinced then do an autopsy. They finally dropped it.
I’m sorry that your mother passed away, but that is interesting. Last year someone in my Grandma’s friends family passed away for reasons unrelated to covid. When the family got the certificate of death (or whatever it’s called) the labeled her death as covid. When the family asked why they did that and asked them to change it the hospital said that they got payed whenever a death was labeled as covid. Perhaps the same goes for that hospital?

I told them that if i saw covid as the cause of death then prepare for a lawsuit. They didnt, yes it but is true that more money is made for every death labeled covid.

Newsweek reported that 1/3 of Americans still think Trump won the election. Some of them are in this thread.

Sometimes I like to remind the conspiracy theorists (of various stripes) that the United States isn't the only country in the world.
Or maybe the user I quoted though other countries were playing along, stuffing their hospitals, all for Joe Biden.
More likely they don't bother thinking enough to realize the absurdity
Come on down to warm sunny Florida. We have well-attended monthly OTB USCF-rated tournaments in Orlando and St. Petersburg. We are fully open for business! We have no vaccine or mask mandates, and we have the lowest per-capita Covid rates in the country.

That’s funny, I’ll be playing some OTB in Florida this winter
@ricorat, I’m guessing you’ll compete in Orlando? I’ve played in many good chess tournaments there over many years.

Yes I’ll most likely be playing in the cfcc open in January. Other than that I might find a couple smaller events to play in. Florida seems like a great state for chess though so I’m excited!

I think that's a big reason why, even today, there is still a lot of skepticism. When people witness firsthand the deceit, lies, and manipulation they get very untrusting of "official" numbers. What good is the data if the data is intentionally false.
I asked a friend who does data entry why they fake those numbers. She said it's not illegal, and it's actually quite common for hospitals to code that way because of insurance purposes and other financial incentives. Sometimes actual cause of death is not even an option. Nobody says anything, so they just do it. Since she is one (of many) of the people who actually compile the numbers (rather than just regurgitate them) she has unique firsthand experience with the actual causes of death.

I wish you success in your chess battles. If you have time for a friendly game in Tampa, I could meet you in Ybor. Happy trails!

Thanks I read your bio and saw your club! Not sure if I'll be in Tampa but if I get the chance I might stop in
Nope not to dangerous. If you think it is you are in delusion. I've been playing and meeting to play chess this entire time.
Doing things online comes with safety concerns. Chess is no different. Therefore, some common online safety advice applies to chess players of all ages: Use a fake username rather than your real name. Hide personal information, such as where you live, where you work or where you go to school. Keep interactions online rather than agreeing to meet in person...additionally children who play or learn chess online should be supervised by parents. Parents should block their children from sharing personal messages and photos with online chess opponents. Some chess websites offer child-safety features, such as disabling all chats. Nonetheless, unsupervised children may figure out how to circumvent those features. There is no substitute for parental supervision <a href="https://homeofapk.com/"> Free apks </a>
Our group of about 8 chess players in Tampa has been meeting, mostly maskless, in person every week since early summer without incidence. I caught a mild case of covid last year, as did several other individuals I know (unrelated to our chess group). But this year I haven’t heard of any infections among anybody that I know. I’m just a regular schmoe, but I’ve been kinda sorta wondering if covid mortality rates have been maybe slightly exaggerated just a tad as a possible political weapon, by government agencies, teachers’ unions, and legacy media. Just a wild thought …
Since all of this has started. The only place i wear a mask is the grocery store. And the 4 places i go to the most without a mask? Not a single case of covid in any of them. Im not saying don't take it seriously. Their are groups of people that are especially susceptible to getting it.

Just a tad.
I know it's more than just a tad.
I have had the opportunity to talk at length with a couple of people who work with those numbers. To my surprise, it's not illegal. Hospitals categorize that "tad" for some very specific reasons. It's systemic. It's in the coding, it's in the protocols, it's in the accounting, it's just how it's done. So the data entry people have no choice, the accountants have no choice, even the doctors and nurses have no choice. Recording those who have died of something else and recording it as covid SHOULD be frowned up or discouraged, but there are reasons it's not.
So the numbers get compiled at hospitals which then get forwarded to the CDC (along with advisory statements) and presto, that's how public policy is devised. Corrupt at it's very core.
I think we will all find that this "problem" goes away after the election.
