Nice puzzle!
First!!
So the second knight move is quite clever. White threatens mate with Nxe7 and simultaneously attacks black's queen which is also interestingly pinned to the d8 square (Qd8#). Qc5+ solves this and probably prepares Qc7 if white plays Kh1. Remarkably, white then moves their strong bishop, with tempo, to clear space for the knight. Kf8 and Kg7 are then both mate by Rxf7#.
Neat!
For a moment I thought black could defend after 1.Nxd5 e6!? but 2.Nf3 squashes all hope: 2... exd5 3.Nxe5 Qb6+ 4.Kh1 Qxb5 5.Rxf7 andsoonandso mate.
Nice puzzle today! I was thinking along the lines of Bc4, and an eventual Rxf7. So the first move, Nxd5, was a huge paradoxical shocker, as it allowed the queen to defend the f7 pawn. But after carfeul evaluation, Nf5!! presented itself, threatening mate by taking on e7, or allowing Qd8#.
Funnily, I thought the puzzle was over already. So when Black played Qc5+, I was trying to play Qd8 for at least fifteen seconds. .
This isn't a place to post off-topic stuff, is it? Because it'd be nice to have a Daily Reminder...
Ha, guess that shows the difference depending on what catches your eye first! I've had so many moments like that. Similarly Bc4 never even occurred to me as an option! I guess Bc4, e6 (at least) should be good enough to hold. Maybe Be6 even.
@Harish, I don't like that piece style even. Do people actually prefer It?
Nice find @Aris!
And where do you mean Qxd5 TY?

No they don't. I think to make this puzzle even more original pieces style should be changed.
Should be 3 ... Qxd5 in response to Aristotle's line of e6, where White continues with 4 Qxd5, exd5, 5.Nxe5, and the game is over. With even mate, but just a couple of moves later.
Aha, I see now! Thanks for the clarification!
And yes, in the Bc4 line Nf6 looks very smart too!
Nice puzzle. Harder than what I usually see. I was too obsessed withthe Nxe7# that I nearly missed the Qd8# . But there werent good interfernces available so I was sure I was missing something.
Shouldn't 1...e6 2.Nxe6 be winning as well for white? Seems like there's no way no avoid Qd8#.
I think it's winning, yes, but since the other knight is in the way, how does white achieve Qd8?
Recently, due to various circumstances, the commenting privileges on the daily puzzle were removed. Although lots can be discussed about that, at the very least it seems fair to have a thread where analysis of the actual puzzle is allowed and this thread has been created for that sole purpose. Let's give it a go and see how things turn out. It's worth a shot.
