I mirrored the position since the King's name will be Fredrick X

Therefore he stands on f10 spot (Remember Mr Myagi in "paint the fence" principal).

Very Interesting and suitable for special occasions, Not sure the abdication of a Danish queen is one for an international audience wink

A few engine runs appear to confirm it's unique but I'm not sure the engines are trustworthy in this. They might overlook alternatives until the mate is closer than 15 moves. I'll do some more testing.

Btw, players sometimes ask for advice on checkmating with K+Q vs K+B. Which is kind of silly when you see how helpless the bishops (of one color) are in an endgame like this one!

I believe because of Shakespeare's Hamlet my Danish royal chess pamphlet is relevant for the global village's attention. happy

Who knows maybe in 10 years time 1-30% of all chess puzzles might be refuted, and even this one might get busted, however I have a good feeling about this one. It is making tons of sense to me. However you never know. meh

Totally agreed upon your wisdom there, a queen will massacre 10s of same squared colored bishops. As tased, amazed, they will all deflate Infront of her majestic gaze.

Unlike knights, bishops are not good defenders of the king.

Most puzzles will not be refuted in 10 years time. We passed that phase when retesting all creations from the previous century.

The truth is that compositions are not about creating hard puzzles but about interesting and original ideas. Humans and engines work in perfect harmony to crack human puzzles. We are capable of locating the design concepts better than engines and they are better in testing complicated lines. Though AI might change that. The danger comes when engines start creating puzzles (like many tablebase positions) - too hard for us and too hard for them. Like encryption and decryption keys, it may prove easier to create them than crack them without knowing how they were made!
