Yes, then it was mate in four moves if 30. Kh1 instead of 30. Qd4, do u agree?

also why doesn't white respond to the first check by moving the king to a8 - that way black would reply with queen to a6 and white can go on a checking escapade which would in the least postpone black's mate for more than 4 moves

Maybe, you want to say king to h1?
