How can black stop mate in 1?

 i think Rg7 double check is mate.

Oh i see it now if black plays 3.. Rhg8 then the h8 square is open for the king to get out of check. but then 4.Rh6 double check is mate. can anyone see a way out of that?

 Yes: (2. ... Rhf8 3. Rxh6++ Kg8)

 

Mate in 10 seems plausible.

I'd say more analysis is in order here. After 2...Rhe8 3.Rxh6 Kg8 I don't quite see it yet. I'm sure there is a mate, but if you don't see it, you haven't really solved the puzzle, have you.
