Your "solution"is 1.Qxd4 c6 2.Ne5 Qc8 3.Qxg4??(3.Nxf7-CHECKMATE!)

Oh, right. I should have seen that mate.

Now I wonder if there's another solution.

May be "Schnapps-sick"?

The title was the clue. If I put "Schnapps-sick", then no one would understand the puzzle.

That's why @winterberger was able to answer so quickly. 

I still don't understand - but I am willing to accept my limitations

I struggled with winterberger's solution as well. Then I figured out that his "Checkmate" could be rewritten as Czech MaT, and refers to the famous game by Mihail Tal in Prague where the key features of this position occured  (such as the knight on f3 - that's a really big hint!). 

I bow my head in admiration. I could not hope to achieve this level of lateral reasoning within a single lifetime. We'll meet again in 500 years .. plus or minus 50.
