How are puzzles on Chess.com rated?

It seems like when I play Puzzle Rush some low-level puzzles are excruciating while higher level puzzles can be simple mates in one.

They have added new puzzles recently. It is possible some of the new ones are misrated.

Looking at your last 25 puzzles, you failed to solve these two:

They were rated around 1300. I think that rating is pretty accurate.

I'm just curious how the rating is calculated. Is it based on the rating of players who solved or failed to solve the puzzle? Or is it arbitrarily selected by Chess.com staff? If the puzzle rating 'adapted' based on who solved it, that would be cool.

That is a good question, I feel sometimes a high rated puzzle is easier than low rated ones

“ If the puzzle rating 'adapted' based on who solved it, that would be cool.” I think I’ve read somewhere a long time ago thats how it works, thats how I’ve always explained it to people.
