Kight and Bishop mate

jennyanthony

kinda hard but good

mosqutip

Is this the most efficient way to do this?

tornadofdoom

So if I'm correct- the idea is to get the king to a corner with the same color as your bishop and to limit his moves, right?

Win in 25 with perfect play (according to Shredder's databases).

Yeah, even after seeing it I still think if I'm up a N + B vs. K, I'll take the draw -- fun to watch this though ;-)

Black wants to stay in the opposite colored corner as white's bishop to try to draw the position by move limit.  The key for white is to force the king out of that corner while keeping him along the back rank or edge file, and covering the squares behind him so he can't go back to the corner.  For mate it's all about positioning the knight king and bishop correctly while leaving two squares for the king to move to prevent stalemate

Yeah, the position I had was more advanced in the mate so that I could actually make it a doable puzzle :D
