Hi guys! Is it just me, or is trying to create puzzle on chess.com about like trying to lasso a tornado? I went to that really good forum post by jeftakels and I still can't figure it out. But this is a forum where you can post your own puzzles, so you don't have to setup positions from game analysis tabs and paste and copy from your browser, or any of that junk. No offense to chess.com, I know they do it that way to limit the amount of puzzles circulating. Totally understandable. To put puzzles on your forum posts, first click the chessboard in the options area above where you're about to make your post. Then click "setup position." then you can hit the little garbage can on the right to clear the board. From there, you can drag pieces onto the board from the box of pieces in the top right corner, and take pieces off the board by dragging them past the edge of your chessboard. Once you're done setting up your puzzle, make sure your tab, below the box of pieces, says what you want: "white to move," or "black to move." Then, below that, click the tab that says "moves" and play out the puzzle. The computer will record each move. Then click on "theme." Check the boxes for "coordinates" and "puzzle." And, presto! You can post your puzzle. I'm about to put in some of my own, I will continue to do this.

The simple but brilliant solution to this puzzle completely traps the e2 bishop and leads to an extremely quick checkmate.

These are no puzzles. Clicking the puzzle button does not turn a diagram into a puzzle. A puzzle is a challenge that can only be met by playing the best moves. The moves in your puzzles are not. Also, the solver should never have a choice between 2 (or more) equally effective moves because he cannot decide between them with logical reasoning. It's the same as solving a crossword puzzle, only one set of correct answers meets the requirements.

I partly disagree with you. I believe puzzles should have more than one good (or appearing to be good) solution. The point is to think ahead and determine the solution by reasoning the future outcome and position, not what looks equal or good at the moment.

I came up with that one this morning. The end setup leaves white with what will be a quick checkmate.

From now on, I'm going to start putting difficult puzzles I created on here, which I call "Daily Doubles" (cue the Jeopardy music). Big compliments to anyone who can get them on the first try. But warning: Sometimes I stink at making puzzles and if you see a big mistake (which I make alot) don't be afraid to point it out and speak your mind.

Here is you first "Daily Double!":

2.Qf7 is the alternative.

Is anybody else gonna put puzzles on here? That's the reason I made the forum, to make it easier, you know.
