Mate in 1

Monster_Melons

Rather easy no matter whose turn it is.

BL4D3RUNN3R

Well, the exercise has a certain point. I would think about it twice.

Monster_Melons

OK, I know whose turn it is.

Sorry, I’m not that good at chess... but I can see checkmate in one for both sides... also where are the coordinates?
Mr_Alex_Pims
Oh wait, I get it now. I don’t want to give away the answer, but it has something about illegal last moves, right...?
Trexler3241

If you saw the mate in one for both sides you lose happy.png

?

hailducky

Alright somebody explain this to me please.

hailducky

Wait nvm, it can't be white to move, can it?

eric0022

There can only be one player who has the move. It's too obvious.

Destroyer942

oh ok so black wins right?

hailducky

Well it has to be black. The puzzle is a trick, as white's position is illegal.

eric0022

I will leave it to you to determine the 'winner'

@BL4D3RUNN3R

It is possible for both players to checkmate (you didn't specify that the game cannot be a crazyhouse game). Three of these four mate-in-one possibilities are possible.

- White to move, mate in one

- Black to move, mate in one

- White to move, but black to mate in one

- Black to move, but white to mate in one

You can spoil every problem if you invent new rules like crazyhouse. Putting in some pieces out of nowhere...

I don't post variants BS. So it is a puzzle with the conventions of problem chess which follow the "normal" chess rules.

There's only one solution after all, Black has the move. That's the point.

Oh ok, I just know there are some chess positions which can't happen in a game but people still make puzzles out of them, so if it was one of those white could win if it was his move.
