It's not really a "puzzle" unless both sides are playing good (or the best possible) moves. White wins in three moves above because (apparently) the black player does not see the mate coming. If, for example, Black played 1 . . Nf6 as his first move, or 2 . . g6 as his second, then there's no mate in 3 . . .
I guess the lesson here is make sure that your moves are made keeping king safety in mind. the knight moves totally ignored the building pressure on black's king.
and yeah...this isn't the best puzzle.
