Mate in two.. Quite difficult.

This is a mate in 2.. But I bet most of

you cant solve it :)

sesteves86

Is it with 1 b7?

OckhamsRazor

Re4 is basically the meat of this one.

After that, depending on black's response there's a mating move.  If there's a move  for black after Re4 that I've missed where white can't subsequently mate, let me know.  I don't see it.

What do I win? ;)

TheBlueOwls

wow took me 5 seconds (sorry but it was easy) first u do rook e5 then it forces the king into 2 legal moves Kc4 and d4. then u move queen to h4 checkmate. if this is right do i get a trophy

sesteves86

If Re5 then 1 ... - Kc4 ; 2 Qh4+ - Bg4 or Kb3

@ OckhamsRazor:  1 Re4 - Kxe4

ukala_19
@dljaraki what about Kb3 then(sorry but too obvious that, that was not the answer)?

My idea is having the Knight to b2 and then checking w/ smth. but I couldn't find what to check with:D

This is the pattarn that I saw, but from the title it implies that this is wrong.  It is only checkmate if black King chooses d4.  If King chooses to move to c4, then Queen to h4 leaves King to b3 open and a chase is on.  Granted the King is in a small part of the board, but with Rook at e5 Queen at h4 and pawn at d2 and bishop at g7 whites pieces are not in position to get the checkmate any time soon. The Knights are helpful, but also not in the right place.  So king to b3 results in a chase that many different choices, or errors could change the actual outcome.  But played right Black King will loose.  Again however according to the title this pattarn is wrong.

Ahhhh,  I did have it wrong, thanks bunches.

sesteves86

lol ... well seen :) I didn't thought much on that possibility....

and what if 1 Re4 - Bc8?

Black loose material but only receives mate in the 3rd move.

KillaBeez
Then Qc6#
Joy112
1. Re4, Kxe4 2. Qh1# - is nice, but what happens if to Re4, black moves her pawn to c4?
sesteves86
2 Rd4 #
PopizzdioJazz

1. Re4

if king takes the rook, Qh1#

if bishop moves, Qc6# or  Qe6#

if knight moves, Nc3#

if peon moves, Rd4#

took me 6-7 minutes

Well done guys! Yeh took me only a few minutes too and one of my pupils even less but the key move is still quite nice!
XremusX

i see a mate in tree

knight b3-c4 ( only good response)

rook  e5+ - king d4 ( only response)

queen d6 mate

cool

sesteves86

Do you mean knight in c3?

1 Nc3+ - Nxc3
2 dxc3 - ....

Very cool. This one turned out to be pretty tricky, with a number of moves to work out. Good thing it was only a mate-in-two. Who was the author?
Yellow_015
yay i got it.twas possibly luck that it was the second move i considered looking at after i saw what the knights could do. heh took me 34 seconds, go binary clocks! Qh1 Bf8
AClotfelter
what is the correct answer? I do not see a forced mate in 2.. I see possible mate in 2, but it depends on black's response
