You need to show what happens if 7...b4 instead of e5.

what exactly is the next move by black after 7..b4 8.Kb3 ? Do you want to push your pawns slowly or alternately like 8..b7-b6 /..b7-b5 / ..e5 either ways white king will just wait there to snap the pawns you push, will not actively get to the pawns but wait til you push.

OKAY, THIS IS A TYPO ERROR- it should be OBVIOUS the king comes from d2

7...b4 8. Kd3 b5 9. Kd2 e5 10.Kd3 b3. What's next?

That's why Black should play 7...b4. It gives White a chance to lose with Kd3 instead of winning with Kc2. And it's why I thought you should include that variation in your solution.

Deep_Kanor52

yeah your right, after 7..b4 i need to re-evaluate Kd3 vs Kc2 (Kd3 would lose) nice puzzle!

n9531l1

Now the only problem with your solution is that this is the thread in which rychessmaster1 is supposed to be the solver. I guess we should ask him whether outside solutions are welcome.

Deep_Kanor52

yeah sorry @rychessmaster1 i jumped in I was really excited solving problems cry.pngcry.png

I posted this in another thread and received no replies, so I will repeat it here.

White to play and win

n9531l1

1. b3 g3+ 2. Kg2 Ke3 3. e5 Kxd3 4. e6 Kc2 5. e7 d3 6. e8=Q d2. Can White win now?

n9531l1

In your line Black would probably play 11...Kb2.

n9531l1

After 13. b4, Black has nine moves that hold the draw. Hint: The position has been a draw since 1. b3.

n9531l1

1. Ke2 g3 2. b3 g2 3. Kf2 g1=Q+ 4. Kxg1 Ke3 5. e5 Kxd3 6. e6 Kc2 7. e7 d3 8. e8=Q d2. Now what?

n9531l1

Post the board? Something besides #45?

n9531l1

White to play and win

n9531l1

1. Kf1 Kg5

n9531l1

Why do you need a new board every time?

White to play and win

n9531l1

1. Kf1! Kg5

n9531l1

1. Kf1 Kg5  2. Kg2! (Ke1? g3=) Kf4.

n9531l1

3. Kf2 g3+ 4. Kf1= (4. Kg2!)

h4 then g4  and black has no way to stop the h pawn, white has time to stop the passed g pawn, lets see if Stockfish agrees.
