PUZZLE - Check Mate in 1

Sort:

Some people complained that my last puzzle - "PUZZLE - Check Mate in 30" - was a little difficult and they also said other insulting things about it...

Please see the thread for more

Well live and learn...

I have therefore decided to make this puzzle a little simplier - hopefully you wont struggle too much

Have fun - and let me know if you think this is better

Thanks

Good luck everyone!

I just skimmed all of the comments really quickly, and I didn't see anybody saying any insulting things...

thats just pathetic -you go from one ludicrous exrtreme to another!.Why dont you aim for the middle ground and set puzzles of no more than mate in 6 or 7.

Why is Rxf7 not correct? After Rxf7, white has a rook, while black only has 2 pawns that are still on the 7th rank, which is a really easy win for white. I don't see any other move that's better than Rxf7, although even if white doesn't take the pawn he probably still has a win.

Kg8 takes the rook on the next move.

(facepalm)

How did I not see that?!?! No wonder my rating is still so low!

It's not easy to see. There are so many empty squares that it gets confusing.

SwellGuyIsBoss

It is easy for me because I have had this opportunity (not sure how to spell that) in games many times so I have learned to look for that checkmate.

I've read Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess so managed it Cool

SwellGuyIsBoss

it did take me a second though...

You peple need to do more TT.

1 Rxf7 Kg8

2 Rxg7+! Kh8

3 Rg1 draw. clearly a fair result

Here's a mate in 7 puzzle:

Anyone in an adventurous mood who wants to try it?

And what makes my puzzle even better is that both sides have equal material! So theoretically if white doesn't get this right then he could end up on the losing side!

that was too easy to be worthy of troubling your self to pose-all i had to do was just keep on taking the pieces with check until there are no pieces left!. lets have some authentic chess puzzles .cheers all the same

trotters64

MACER -just keep on taking the pieces with check until there are no pieces left to thwart the mate -more taxing and authentic puzzles would be welcome!
