For members of the puzzle contest only, that's anmol21, videogamefan, EM1NEM, oinquarki, and pawn2467134, here is the third puzzle. Others, you can join on this puzzle and then post your answer, but you must join before you post your answer. However, before we see the third puzzle, here is the answer to the second puzzle:

White is up one pawn, but Black has managed to get directly in front of White's extra pawn. So it seems like a draw. And indeed it would be if the a-pawns didn't exist. However, notice that if it were Black to move, he would have to retreat his king with 1...Kc8, and then 2 Kb6 snaps up the black a-pawn and wins. So White must use triangulation to reach this same position with Black to move. 1 Kd5 Kc8. This is the only move, as 1...Kd8 loses to 2 Kd6 Kc8 3 c7. Also, White would like Black to be on the move in this position, because ...Kc7 loses to Kc5, and ...Kd8 loses to Kd6. 2 Kd4! Now White will achieve his goal of triangulating, because Black's king can't do a triangle movement, as ...Kc7 loses to Kc5. 2...Kd8 3 Kc4 Kc8 (Black can't do 3...Kc7 because of 4 Kc5) 4 Kd5! And White has achieved his goal of triangulating. White wins if the king can get in front of the b-pawn. Black must at all costs prevent this. The first few moves, 1.Kc3 Ka3,  2.Kc4 Ka4, 3.g4 b5+

Now, 4.Kd3 is necessary to allow the white king access to c2, to prevent the pawn from promoting later, since as the white pawn requires the same number of moves to promote as the black pawn, the only way for white to win is to prevent black from promoting. After 4.Kd3 b4, 5.g5 b3, 6.g6 b2, 7.Kc2! and the win is easy.

Analysis: just pushing pawns leads to a draw by 3 fold rep 1.g4 b5 2.g5 b4 3.g6 b3+ 4.Kc3 b2 5.g7 b1=Q 6.g8=Q+ Ka1 7.Qa8+ Qa2 8.Qh1+ Qb1 9.Qa8+ Qa2 10.Qh1+ Qb1 11.Qa8+ 1/2-1/2 which isn't good enough for white black ends up queening and either drawing by 3 rep or insufficient material.

If white rushes toward the pawn  1.Kc3 Ka3 2.Kc4 Ka4 3.g4 b5+ 4.Kd3 b4 5.g5 b3 6.g6 b2 7.Kc2 ( black can protect the pawn at this point but is only temporary 7...Ka3 8.Kb1 Kb3 9.g7 Kc3 10.g8=Q Kd2 11.Kxb2 Ke2 12.Qg3 Kd2 13.Qf4+ Kd3 14.Kb3 Ke2 15.Kc3 Ke1 16.Kd3 Kd1 17.Qf1# )    1-0)b1=Q+ 8.Kxb1 Kb5 9.g7 Kc6 10.g8=Q Kd7 11.Qg6 Ke7 12.Kc2 Kd7 13.Kd3 Ke7 14.Kd4 Kd7 15.Kd5 Kc7 16.Qc6+ Kd8 17.Qb7 Ke8 18.Ke6 Kf8 19.Kf6 Kg8 20.Kg6 Kh8 21.Qg7# 1-0 This solution works because black can't chase down white's pawn so if white can get in front of black's pawn or take it its all over. Pushing toward black pawn allows white to get in front of or take black's pawn it doesn't matter which

1. Kc3 Ka3 Black must prevent white from blockading the pawn. 2. Kc4 Ka4 3. Kd3! This move serves two purposes: it threatens to blockade the pawn by going on b1 and prevents black from checking when he pushes the pawn. 3...Ka3 to prevent white blockading. Alternatively, black could move Kb3 but blockades his own pawn and lets white queen first easily. 4. g4 b5 5. g5 b4 6. g6 b3 7. g7 b2 8. Kc2 Ka2 9. g8=Q+ If 9...Ka1, 10. Qa8#. Or 9...Ka3 10. Qb3#.
