Puzzle Rating Change

I thought that a glitch occurred and my rating was accidentally lowered, but, nope, chess.com adjusted the puzzle ratings without notifying me.

Glad for the all my hours spent improving my puzzle rating that has now vanished.

Yeah, my puzzle rating plummeted something like 1300 points overnight! My all-time high was reset to a lower fiction.

My rating went from 3000 to doofus!!

Your puzzle rating didn't change the rating system did, they've changed the algorithm since the puzzle ratings were inflated and unreliable. They mentioned that some simple mate in one puzzles were rated over 1600 when the actual puzzle rating was under 900 so they've changed the system to hopefully better reflect your skill as a solver and more accurately determine the difficulty of a puzzle as well. For more context id suggest reading their news article about the change.

My dropped nearly 800.

There are at least a dozen threads on the change.

Well, that's pretty demoralising. Spending time on puzzles, gradually working the way up the ratings, trying to make sure I get an increase every day, even if that meant doing 24 puzzles in a row. Just to drop 800 points or so over night

For me it's the opposite XD

lol, now solving a puzzle gives +2 rating, shit is still [removed-- MS], devs gotta get the algorithm right..

Yesterday my puzzle rating was over 3200 = I turned on puzzles today and it showed in one day I had dropped by 831 rating points - incomprehensible, especially as I can only play 3 a day - any idea what happened?
If the algorithm has changed 1) people should be notified, and; 2) a drop of about 33% seems a bit harsh. Odd is, this morning I had decided - in part encouraged by the puzzle rating - do upgrade to a yearly subscription. I put that on hold now.

That was an unpleasant surprise. At least there's shared misery.

Mine fell down 1600 points what is chess.com doing?

Yep gladly cancelling my membership over this
Avatar of Metamorphosis3333

Mine dropped almost 700 pts

Avatar of Quirkafleeg

It was bad enough that they already changed it such that getting a puzzle wrong cost -20 points on average; downrating people without warning is scandalous. I had just hit a new all-time high rating yesterday. Seriously considering cancelling my membership now.

Avatar of iPawnedu69420

Funny people canceling membership over this?! Personally, I suspect I am just as good at chess today as I was yesterday, so who cares about a puzzle rating adjustment?

Quality in chess puzzles will be better than quantity...

Try changing your puzzle Difficulty setting to Hard or Extra Hard

After the change that's less likely, unless you miss a puzzle that is much lower rated

Here's what you get for each difficulty (from my exp today):

Standard: Correct = +2-3 pts Incorrect = -12 pts

Hard: Correct = +3-5 pts Incorrect = -10-8 pts

Extra Hard: Correct = + 7-8 pts, Incorrect = -7-8 pts

IDK why you wouldn't always play on Extra Hard if this is accurate and not changing?
