That's certainly possible.

so my friend ( previous 1800) gets put to 1750 but me (3100) gets put to 1500? why did he get -100 and I get - 1500? BS punishing players for actually committing to a practice.

Thanks chess.com now I don't care about premium and I don't want to use your website for making me feel like 50 hours was worth nothing.

Mine went from over 3300 to just over 2200. I don't think a huge rating drop for puzzles should have any impact on the benefit of practicing. I would do the puzzles if my rating were 3300, 2300, or 1300. In my opinion the change makes sense, although it surprised me because I didn't know they were going to do it. The puzzles I get right can't be anywhere near 3300 because I'm only about a 1700 level player. The 2200 puzzle rating I now have is probably a lot more accurate.

@Martin_Stahl

I can only do 3 puzzles a day, let me try the subscription for 1 month (1 week is too short) so I can evaluate everything better, thanks.

The latest algorithm is demoralizing. Get a ton correct in a row gets wiped out super easily with one wrong.

Sort of like the game of chess. Get a ton of correct moves in a row and then get wiped out super easily with one wrong move.

The puzzle's difficulty level is only visible after you answer, so it's best to know it beforehand!
Difficulty: Hard
I have 1800 points and was given a puzzle with a difficulty of 1400, and that's a truly enormous difference. Luckily, I won, only +4 points; otherwise, I would have lost -12.
I set the difficulty to Extra Hard and was given a puzzle with a difficulty of 1351. It's ABSURD, with a lot of pieces on the board, and not knowing the difficulty level, whether to look for a simple or complicated solution, I ended up losing -14 points.
So, that's it, bye-bye puzzle.

That is the Puzzle Points feature and has nothing to do with the puzzle selection algorithm difficulty setting.

Most of your puzzles, on Extra Hard, should be within 100-150 if you current puzzle rating (i.e. close to your rating). Looking at your history, that has been the case, at least since you switched the Difficulty.

Capisco che dopo tanto lavoro tu difenda strenuamente l'algoritmo!

"Extra difficile, dovrebbe essere compreso tra 100 e 150 "

ma in extra difficile mi è stato dato un puzzle da -350

and I repeat the value of the puzzle I have to know it before not after

@Martin_Stahl

So I deleted my 1808 puzzle points!

I may have misread your post about the 1800 points 🤔

It's possible that there was a cached puzzle form just before your change of Difficulty. That said, when I looked earlier, before you reset, your history appeared to be correct and I didn't see any that indicated you got a puzzle with that large of a rating difference.

As to the puzzle ratings before completion, that's never been an option, and it's probably unlikely it will be

No, no, every time I changed the difficulty, so it wouldn't be remembered, I'd log out and check to make sure the previous one wasn't there when I came back. There was an error on your part/the algorithm.
That's why I don't know what level of puzzle I'm facing. I prefer to practice with the lichess puzzles, sorry.

Are you using the app? I know there's a previously reported bug for that and members that are not using the Collect Puzzle Points feature

I'm not sure on the status if that

Avatar of FerGue52

I don't use APP

I use Browser Chrome.
I don't like the "Accumulate problem points" feature.
Maybe children like it.

Avatar of highchessrating

i have not had such a problem. i am 1281 in puzzles

Avatar of HarveyHangs

Now I understand. I was inflated for my easy puzzles but still going from the tippy top .3 (3100) percent of people to 1500 was a slap in the face with little explanation.

So far I have reclaimed 245 of my stolen puzzle points. But sure, I did not deserve those points before the system change.

After, if we solve a puzzle, then in browser not show the correct puzzle rating. If check the solved puzzles, there show good, match less rate for the same puzzle.

For those members that have the Collect Puzzle Points feature off, the post puzzle screen has the old rating shown still. Staff are aware
