Puzzle Rating Change
So how are people doing three weeks after the update?
I looked but didn't see any ongoing complaints this morning.
The new system has some flaws. I put puzzles on extra hard and the rating changes to ~±8 points instead of +2/-12 without the puzzles getting actually harder

I have good days and bad days and mostly have made my peace with stats that no longer make sense, such as a graph showing my rating 1000 higher than my listed peak.
Yesterday, I dropped 310 points in too long of a session after the baseball game.

The graph in the app still gives multiple red dots when you get a single problem wrong and try again.

12 of 13 correct this morning got me back to 2000.

You're pretty close to 50% correct, which is where you should expect to be on Extra Hard unless you're improving or having a good day.
Before changing to Extra Hard you were getting the majority correct.

So long as the puzzles are set to extra hard it works just like the old system did 6 months ago, which is a great advance compared to the ups and downs of the last 3-4 months.
I like the idea that the puzzle ratings are now closer to your game rating, but there’s still quite a gulf (for me at least)

There should be a difference. If there was someone pointing out positions where tactics are in your games, you would expect to have a higher rating.
I hate this change. It's very demoralising to gain a tiny amount of points when you get a puzzle right but lose twice as much when you get it wrong. Especially so when you only have 3 puzzles in a day.
2 correct puzzles are cancelled out by 1 that you got wrong. How is that fair?

Try changing to Hard or Extra Hard difficulty. You'll miss more puzzles on average, and your total rating changes will be similar, but the points for success/failure are closer together.
On Standard, the default, the average rating of puzzles is lower, so you gain less on success and lose more in failure. You'll also succeed at more puzzles overall, unless you're overrated

It's fair because that's exactly how the game of chess works. Would it be fair to have a puzzle rating that's disproportionately higher than your actual ability? In other words, lets say you are a 1500 rated player, is it "fair" that your puzzle rating is 3000? Are you really that good? And if you are that good, why isn't your game rating higher?
I'll paraphrase your comments. In the game of chess what happens VERY often is you gain a tiny amount of advantage when you get several moves right but lose twice as much (or more) when you get it wrong. In chess good moves are rewarded very minimally, but bad moves are punished very maximally.
This system is so bad! My rating went down by like 500 points 😡! I don't like it! Why did they change it? Nobody wanted this! Change it back!!!!

The reason is given in the following article.

Your score is as follows:
Bullet = 360
Blitz = 402
Rapid = 690
While in Problems you had a whopping 2076, proving the system was flawed, even your current 1629 seems too many!
So what are you talking about?
@FerGue52 that's exactly why I don't like the system. It was my only good rating and now it's gone. It's going to take so much studying and practice for me to get it back up to 2076!
a puzzle this morning was nuts. yeah I saw the "brilliant" false bishop sac that the puzzle wanted, but the take wasn't forced, black had another move. so i played a developing move instead and got dinged 8 points. and i couldn't play out the other move to see what was wrong with it, and i also couldn't go back for a hint to see why the script thought the "brilliant" bishop sac was so brilliant. irritated me so thoroughly that i intentionally threw my other two free puzzles.
i keep trying every morning to not hate this nutty system. i guess i'll keep at it. it'll take me a month to restore my rating now.
but i'm not bitter. lol

The first move you make is always going to be the best, regardless of the reply. Sometimes, the reason of the puzzle is to present a pattern.
You should be able to use the analysis option after to see why that's the best
