Good day. I'm trying to do the puzzles but am running into situations where the 'correct' line seems to be rather rigid at least. I don't know how to download the board to show it here but if anyone can access it (we suspect there's a way but don't know how) it is puzzle #1171124.
The line it wants you to follow is:
1. Qh3 Nf3+ 2. Kh1 Rh4 3. Rd3 Rxh3
We didn't do that. Instead we did:
1. Qh3 Nf3+ 2. Kh1 Rh6
Which is when we got the error message. In both cases the rook move creates a pin with White's Queen and King, and in both cases the rook is protected. The only difference we see is that the way we chose keeps the king trapped on the h-file and the way the computer chooses doesn't. This kind of situation has occurred almost every time (3 out of 4 times) we've made an error.
Is this common or is this me being an unskilled chess player?
Rh6 allows Rg8+ saving the queen or getting a material advantage for black.
