Puzzle Solutions - Inappropriate Penalties

Hello everyone,

On occasion, I will play a puzzle, make a move deemed incorrect and get penalized points.

To be fair, in some cases, I can see there was a best (preferred) move and learn from it.  However, there are some puzzles where after considerable review, I simply disagree or there may be more than one way to achieve the same result just as efficiently.

This is frustrating because I've grown to not trust the puzzle logic and want to stop learning from puzzles.

Have others found this to be the case?

Are there some tips to help better understand the solution logic better in the event there is more than one good solution?

Thank you!

Over 99% of the time, puzzles do indeed have exactly one definitely best move - and that is the solution.  If you are unsure of why the move is the best or think that your solution was just as good (if not better), then select the "Analysis" button and play the move you think was good.  Look at what the engine plays in response.  This will help you figure why the solution was the best move.

With that being said, there are a very, very small number of puzzles which slip through which are wrong, have a legitimate alternate solution, or otherwise has something bizarre going on.  You can report these puzzles.  With that being said, it is better to assume you missed something rather than the puzzle is wrong.

Thank you for the response.  I'll follow your advise and report those that have fallen through the cracks.
