Here's the puzzle:

I played Rc5+(or Rc5++) on this puzzle because of the double check and it didn't end well. Would anybody else here make the same mistake or did I have an usually bad blunder?

Rg5 ? Check + double attack on the rook

The double check is awful as it only forces black's king to safety. I would never play it with a bit of time on the clock and indeed Rg5+! wins the black rook.
