I prefer 1. Qh6 2. Any legal move that black wants to make...it doesn't matter at this point. 3. Qg7#.

Did I overlook some escape for Black?

Lou if you played Qh6 then black plays Ne8 covering the g7 square so that wouldnt work.

Also rather than take the rook with the king why not the knight givng the king an escape

maybe

1. Rxh7 Nxh7

2. Qh6 Nxf6

3. exf6 Qg3+

4. Rxg3 Ne8

5. Rh3 dosn't matter

6. Qh8#

I missed that option so as you pointed out my simple solution is flawed and doesn't work.
