you should've continued it

I left the continuation to the moderator since the line you propose is the one showing the main idea, but it is not the best for white:

I couldn't decide which one show really.

I’ve looked at a few of your submissions, but service won’t be back to usual for a few weeks.

CLC4life I couldn’t find the game using the link you gave.

Thankyou Powerlevel_9001 for a fascinating endgame submission :

105th puzzle http://www.chess.com/tactics/server?id=378265

spawning

103rd puzzle http://www.chess.com/tactics/server?id=425619

104th puzzle http://www.chess.com/tactics/server?id=316191

 Thankyou Blackadder 106th puzzle http://www.chess.com/tactics/server?id=305797

Vipera_raddei, regarding puzzle 102, I don’t like starting puzzles with easy moves, so I started the puzzle one move later. It can lead to low rated puzzles with low pass rates.

 Vipera_lebetina 107th puzzle http://www.chess.com/tactics/server?id=308505

Please use an engine to check future submissions.

nwei, 108th puzzle http://www.chess.com/tactics/server?id=310955. Please try to exclude alternative winning lines from future submissions.

Balachandar, nice tactic but unfortunately there are alternative winning lines.

Thankyou Chessgm8, 109th puzzle http://www.chess.com/tactics/server?id=274065 for black instead of for white. ClavierCavalier, I read your post after creating the above puzzle. Thankyou for your helpful input.

If anyone realizes their puzzle needs altering, please edit your original post.

Strategicplay, Puzzle1 unfortunately 43.h4 is also winning. For the second puzzle unfortunately 2.Kd5 is as strong as 2.Bc3. Please use an engine to check for ambiguity.

 Thankyou Vivinski, 110th puzzle http://www.chess.com/tactics/server?id=396049

Unfortunately after Rh8 in the next puzzle both Rg5 and Rg6+ are winning.

111th puzzle http://www.chess.com/tactics/server?id=112128

Unfortunately Chessgm8, the Anastasia mate is ambiguous with 3.Qf5 also being winning. However it does provide the 112th puzzle http://www.chess.com/tactics/server?id=349661

 Powerlevel_9001 nice drawing puzzle, 113th http://www.chess.com/tactics/server?id=423725

Thankyou piphilologist 114th puzzle http://www.chess.com/tactics/server?id=344581 which also spawns 115th puzzle http://www.chess.com/tactics/server?id=405423

Koala8 please check puzzle submissions with a computer as moves such as 3.Kd1! have to be used in tactics trainer and even if 3.Kb2?? black has too many winning moves such as 3….Rb8 (mate in 4) or 3…Nc4+ (mate in4) which would make the puzzle ambiguous.

iixxPROxxii, unfortunately the puzzle is ambiguous with 2.Bxc5 (+5.9) and 2.Nd6 (+4.1). Please check puzzle submissions with a computer. However the puzzle does provide 2 nice puzzles :

116th puzzle http://www.chess.com/tactics/server?id=232799  and

117th puzzle http://www.chess.com/tactics/server?id=438015

ClavierCavalier, unfortunately the Weiss puzzle is ambiguous with 1…Nxd3+ (-25) and 1…bxc4 (-7.5) and 1…Nxc4 (-3.8). Please check future submissions with a computer.

Judsaw, unfortunately 1…Rg1+ (-1.12) and 1….Bg7 (-0.62) mean black’s best move is not good enough for tactics trainer. Thanks for helping with the diagram Blackadder (great username), although all I need is the FEN (prior to the computer’s first move – well done Judsaw) and movelist .

Makram_chess please provide an FEN at the start of the puzzle (prior to the computer’s first move) and check for alternative winning lines with a computer.

ClavierCavalier, after adding the a8 rook. 1…Qxc4 (mate in 7) and 1…Nxb2 (mate in 6) means the problem is still ambiguous. Please edit your original submission rather than adding a new post to prevent me spending time on the original.

mpapa, unfortunately 28.Rxd7 (mate in 4) and 28.b4 (mate in 7) means the puzzle is ambiguous.

Thankyou cflux, 118th puzzle http://www.chess.com/tactics/server?id=362589. Although the puzzle does not have a very conclusive finish which might be confusing for those attempting the problem (problem likely to be low rated), its easy to see the advantage of the seventh rank pawn, and quite instructive for lower rated players to consider the follow up, as these kind of positions are common.

Thankyou nyLsel, 119th puzzle http://www.chess.com/tactics/server?id=220411 There may be examples of this common endgame pattern on tactics trainer already but its important enough to have several examples.

Reminder for everyone :

Please post your puzzle as either a

(a) diagram starting with the computer's first move in the puzzle

or

(b) link to the game + move number at which the puzzle starts

or

(c) FEN prior to the computer's first move + movelist.

Thankyou Spieler999,  121st puzzle http://www.chess.com/tactics/server?id=124610

and sideline 120th puzzle http://www.chess.com/tactics/server?id=329417

and 122nd puzzle

http://www.chess.com/tactics/server?id=426023

with 2….Rf7 (+2.9) instead of 2…Kh8 (+3.8) (Houdini eventually finds Rf7 is better for black, but initially finds both moves equally good) to make the puzzle more conclusive.

theunsjb, unfortunately puzzle1 2.Be6+ (+10) or 2.Na4 (+5) or 2.Bf7 (+5)  and

puzzle2  2.Nxe7 (+10) instead of 2.Rxe7 (mate in7) mean these puzzles are ambiguous. Puzzle 3 has multiple alternative winning lines because black has so little material.

I thought Blackadder had a good username until I your opponents name ‘slartybardfarst’ (Hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slartibartfast

StrategicPlay, unfortunately cflux’s puzzle cannot be extended with 3.Qe5 as both 3…Qb4+ and 3…Qf1+ are winning.

Thankyou Nao83, 123rd puzzle http://www.chess.com/tactics/server?id=344833

Kaola8 we had the same idea – unfortunately 4…Rd3 (-2.5) gives black a winning advantage so the problem cannot continue.  Nao83 you were correct to submit your problem as you did. This is an example of where its ok to choose the slightly weaker move for the computer.

Justified08 please see my previous, or first post for the 3 ways to submit a problem.

Katonas, if one were to catch the mistake a couple of days later, there would be no way of knowing whether or not you spent time on the original. If one were to catch their mistake 5 minutes later, they still wouldn't know if you had downloaded it and started a computer analysis yet.  On top of all of this, if you saw the original and didn't like it, and then someone made a correction, you wouldn't know that they did said correction and never check it again.

This is one from a game I was looking at, so it's not an original, and might be on this website somewhere already.  I'm not a master, but I found white's first move to be a surprise.  Black's move is the computer's move:

It is likely you would make the correction before I work on the puzzle. If you think I've overlooked a corrected post, then send me a private message to let me know.

sideline as puzzle for black:

Proud to be the 1st to submit a puzzle here. This has been a very succesful thread :)

my contribution

Avatar of ClavierCavalier

That's an interesting one, but does it let white win?

Avatar of LegoPirate

It would probably be better to start it on the second move and the problem would be to save your material.

Avatar of JulioBr

it's a simplification/defensive puzzle, white keeps slightly ahead. I had calculated this line some moves before but when the time came I overlooked something and blundered, lucky me my oponent didn't take advantage.
