If 2. ... Qd7 then black can avoid checkmate (but still lose the queen).  I'm not sure I would see that as black, though, and I'd probably fall for your trap!

Rhinotillexomaniac

Great puzzle.  This position is from a real game?

Can you show how it got to that point?

armchairQB

good puzzle or was this from one of your games?  Question - why would black ever place themself in this situation (king very exposed, etc)? What opening was used to get here?  Because as a pure puzzle its not very practical.

Otherwise it is very aptly named!

I would guess that black just took white's queen and assumed a trade.

Good point, after Qd7 black will easily be ahead with his extra piece. Taking with the knight outright is better because its a clean kill and don't have to trade a piece to get the queen.

shuttlechess92

nice, but white is already winning after the queen capture, with substantial lead in development.

http://www.chess.com/echess/game.html?id=9415346: That is the game, the actual game. Notice that I, black, was winning as I was up a queen. I was happy to accept that in exchange for being behind in development. I learned a couple lesson there, and I hope you can too.
