Alternatively couldn't you have either Kf7 or Kh7 followed by Ra2.

Kh7 could only give mate in 2 if black didn not follow with Qxh8 I believe

Not Kh7 because Qxh7 is check, but it does work with Kxf7.

Any king move is wrong, or not a mate in two. 1. Kxf7+ Ka7 2. Ra2+ Qa5

I like that he doesn't, because it forces you to actually think it through, whereas in the puzzles you can blindly guess or just give up right away.
