White to play in the below position has to defend against potential threats in his backrank while two of his pieces are under attack. The lack of coordination among Black's major pieces and the Black monarch stranded in the centre are the key tactical elements. White has his queen and rooks lined up within the range of the Black king. Pirrot won by an elegant combination and concluded the game in cavalier fashion. What was the winning move and why did Black give up?

how are people getting on with this so far.... easy/medium/hard?

benws

really easy. probably because the set up of the pieces leaves 1 Rxe7+ screaming out at you. then the follow up's aren't that hard.

sug_chess_puzzles

well benws that is what i was hoping because i am submitting a puzzle each day and then will gradually get harder throughout....

i hope you enjoy them and i would be very thankful if you could carry on doing them and leaving comments aswell

thank you
