Taking advantage

This game that I played earlier today quickly went from me having the advantage to having mate in three.  Simple enough for most beginners, here is a puzzle identical to my earlier play.

Feel free to inform me of any of my own misplays since I am always learning too.

instead of 2...Kxf4 why not 2...Kh4?

That only prolongs the inivitable.  However, one coul hope for a blunder from white to force the draw or win.  Like I stated earlier this was an actual match-up and many people will go for material where ever they can take it.
