What happens if black takes the bishop?

I think you meant the queen to be on h5, but then Kf8 is possible

I think there are quite a few solutions too this one.

To be perfectly honest, all of them except the last one took 2 seconds. I really don't think that seeing obvious mate in ones make a 2700+ player. That's totally correct!!!

thx for making the puzzles. I solved almost all of them in less then 1 second. Its because most of them are red flags. Like immediatly when I see the positions a mating alarm goes off in my head. Specially since the first moves I look at reguardless of the position are checks

LOL I told you at the beginning these were simple problems.. I may make the scoring chart with lower time though later

Yes, but the main flaw is not the simple problems, but the fact that some of them have multiple and/or shorter solutions, which makes a problem cooked.

radmagichat

There were solutions? Lol by solved in less then a second.. I mean I came up with mate.. I didn't know it had to be your solution lol :)

chaotic_iak

Not only those are simple problems that 40 seconds is a simple target, some are seriously defective (in Puzzle 2 Black can last way longer by taking 1... Kd7 for example; in Puzzle 3, all three knight moves work; in Puzzle 5, both 1. h8=Q# and 1. h8=R# work; in Puzzle 7, Black lasts way longer by 1... Kxf7 or 1... Kf8; in Puzzle 8, Black can last way, way longer than mate in 6).

New task: Find which puzzles are cooked in less than 10 seconds. Should be easy.

@ChaoticJak: In puzzle 6, white can mate in 3 with Qa7 Ne5, but okay. In puzzle 2 white can play bg4. Some of them have solutions, just not the one posted.

chaotic_iak

When showing a puzzle in puzzle form, the solution is part of the puzzle; if the presented solution is wrong then it's also defective. But yes, I see for Puzzle 8 (which you mistakenly called Puzzle 6).

For Puzzle 7 (you call Puzzle 2), what after 1. Bg4 f6?

Oh I see.. I didn't realize the puzzles were interactive.. by solved the puzzles.. I just used my mind
