Nice, although the queen on b7 prompted me to sacrifice it.

Qd7 Qxd7 Rc2+ Kd3 Bh7+ Kd4 Bg7# Nice puzzle!

Looking at @Lunalestrange post it is mate in four.
1. ... Qd7 2. QxQd7 Rc2+ 3. Kd3 (huh) Bh7+ 4. Kd4 Bg7#
If white is avoiding mate then 3. Ke1 Rc2xNe2+ 4. Kd1 Reg2 5. Qd6+ but eventually ...

Of course move of the day would be 1. ... Bg7 ;-)

I looked at 1. ... Bxe3+ 2. QxB Nc4+ 3. KxR NxQ 4. Qe7
1. ... Bxe3+ 2. KxB Qe7+

I'm a little confused what you mean by 4.Qe7, or did you mean to show that black Queen will be moved to e7 to defend knight? Sorry if I misunderstood something, I'm new to chess notation, but any explaining will be useful, thanks.

It's an error by the poster because it is given as a white queen move while white's queen was captured on the previous move. It's not your lack of understanding of the notation system.

tacticspotter

you know what is the funny part?

This is a mate in seven puzzle and the first move Qd7 is already wrong

tacticspotter

Btw there are 4 moves that lead to mate in seven but hey

he found one that doesn't

tacticspotter
what will actually happen

ibastrikov

Thank you tacticspotter for pointing that out.  However, it is easily remedied by adding a black pawn at g3.  Then, after Qd7 Qxd7 Rc2+ Ke1 Rh1+ Ng1 Rxg1#.

Yes ... Bxe3+ unless of course as the puzzle creator pointed out add a pawn.
