White to move and win

Avatar of jesuspawn

u didn't make the puzzle anything solvable.  its just a diagram

Avatar of texaspete

It was intentional - what do you think the answer is and why?

I'll be back with answers if no-one works it out...

Rxh7... no i lied

Bxd5... still no

i dont see it

I am going to say that if it is supposed to be in one move then it isn't solvable.

Avatar of jesuspawn

thats what i was thinking

If more than one move is allowed, then the answer is Kh4

Avatar of texaspete

It's not a mate in 1 - it's a win

Avatar of count001

yeah, thats what my previous post was about Tongue out

Avatar of texaspete

Why does that win?

Avatar of count001

Because any move Black makes allows white to play a winning sequence...do you want me to post all sequences?

after Re5 what happens with ...Qd6?

Avatar of texaspete

A little explaining would be good maybe :)

Avatar of count001

Ok, if either Q moves off of its diagonal protecting f8, or if pawn or rook blocks that path, then Rhf8#

If black moves off of d-file Bxd5#

K can't move. Pawns can't move except for aforementioned block on b-file

If Rd8 then ...Rxd8, Ke7 (or Ke8)  Rhe8+,Kf7 Bxd5#

If Q moves back to protect after ...Rxd8 then Bxd5 forces a Q sacrifice and I believe with two Rooks white is in command to win

sry if I missed one...but you get the idea

Avatar of texaspete

Kh3 works too for the same reason
